Epilogue

After some more writing, I think that my problem with presence is that I do not wholeheartedly welcome “contemporary aesthetics,” i.e. my present like/dislike/opinion of a thing, into my current approach to research. This is ironic, in part because lately I have been thinking of asking some of my friends questions like these, without following them up with “why” or asking for more information. Really I just want answers of yes or no, or (green or blue, in the last example):

Right now, do you like the cover of this book?

Right at this moment, do you think that woman is attractive?

In this minute, do you prefer green or blue?

The question then becomes the need for an invention of a new idea of aesthetics or an expansion on what I consider aesthetics to find out how it can be helpful in my research.
